Leverkusen aims to lock up fourth place

Leverkusen, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Bayer Leverkusen will attempt to secure the fourth and final Champions League spot on the Bundesliga's final day on Saturday when the club hosts Werder Bremen.

Leverkusen enters Saturday's match one point clear of fifth-place Wolfsburg and a win would get Sascha Lewandowski's team over the line.

Lewandowski took over on a caretaker basis for Sami Hyypia, and he has guided Leverkusen to three wins and a draw in his four games in charge.

A win over Bremen on Saturday would see Leverkusen return to the Champions League, where they reached the round of 16 this season before being bounced from the competition by PSG.

Bremen has won two of its last three games, and although the club has little incentive in this match, a win could potentially see the team climb as high as ninth place in the Bundesliga.

Wolfsburg is hoping that Bremen can take at least a point from Leverkusen, but the club would still need a win over sixth-place Monchengladbach, which also has a chance at the Champions League with a win over Wolfsburg and a Leverkusen loss against Bremen.

Bayern Munich closes out its title-winning campaign at home against Stuttgart, while second-place Borussia Dortmund travels to Hertha Berlin.

Schalke is third and has already clinched a Champions League spot, but the team still needs a point to lock up third place and will host Nurnberg, which will be relegated with a loss.

Hamburg holds the relegation playoff spot and will give itself a chance to stay up with a win at Mainz, while last-place Braunschweig must beat Hoffenheim and hope that Hamburg loses to Mainz.

Also on Saturday, Eintracht visits Augsburg and Hannover hosts Freiburg.
