Kvitova, Jankovic land in Linz quarters

The left-handed Kvitova, who will lead the Czech Republic against host Russia in next month's Fed Cup final, handled wild card and Austrian crowd favorite Patricia Mayr-Achleitner 6-2, 6-3 in 75 minutes on the indoor decoturf at TipsArena Linz. The world No. 4 Kvitova swatted seven aces, while Mayr- Achleitner compiled five double faults in a losing effort.
Kvitova, who was the runner-up in Linz two years ago, will face Slovakian veteran Daniela Hantuchova, the 2007 Linz titlist, in Friday's quarterfinals.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The third-seeded Jankovic, meanwhile, had to come from behind in order to best British lucky-loser Anne Keothavong, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1, on Day 4. The Serbian slugger will face another lucky-loser, Russian Evgeniya Rodina, in the quarters.
In other action involving seeds, No. 7 Slovak Dominika Cibulkova overcame Italian Sara Errani 6-7 (1-7), 6-3, 6-1 and a No. 8 Hantuchova came from behind to beat Russian Ksenia Pervak 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 in 2 hours, 41 minutes. Cibulkova's quarterfinal opponent will be Australian lucky-loser Anastasia Rodionova, who received a walkover into the round of eight when ninth-seeded Italian Flavia Pennetta pulled out of their second-round affair.
One other second-rounder saw Czech Lucie Safarova subdue Italian Alberta Brianti 6-4, 6-2. Safarova will be opposed by Romanian qualifier Sorana Cirstea on Friday.
