Knighten accounts for 3 TDs, Arkansas State defense dominates in 45-10 rout of South Alabama

Fredi Knighten threw two touchdown passes and ran for a third and Arkansas State's defense dominated South Alabama in a 45-10 rout on Saturday.

Knighten had touchdown throws of 47 yards to Dijon Paschal and 2 yards to Warren Leapheart along with a 17-yard run for a score, giving the Redwolves (6-3, 4-1 Sun Belt) a 24-3 halftime lead.

Michael Gordon and Johnston White each added rushing touchdowns, and Artez Brown returned an interception 58 yards for a score to fuel the rout.

Qushaun Lee had seven tackles along with two of Arkansas State's three interceptions.

Knighten was 17 of 32 for 186 yards and added 14 carries for 80 yards. Paschal finished with 95 yards on five receptions and Gordon rushed 21 times for 77 yards.

South Alabama (5-4, 4-3) was limited to 201 total yards and converted just 1 of 12 third downs.
