PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - Jorge Cantu's Major League Baseball record of 10 consecutive games with a hit and a run batted in (RBI) to start a season ended in the Florida Marlins' 8-6 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday.
"It was fun while it lasted," Cantu told reporters "It's time to start another one."
Cantu collected a single off Phillies winner Roy Halladay (3-0) in the second but he failed to drive in a run to keep the streak going.

The Marlins hitter came to bat with runners on second and third in both the eighth and ninth innings. He flied out against Hallady in the eighth and grounded into a fielder's choice against reliever Ryan Madson in the ninth.
Cantu's streak was the longest since RBIs became a major league statistic in 1920.
Halladay, acquired from Toronto in the off-season, pitched eight innings in the rain, allowing two runs and eight hits. He struck out four and walked none.
