Jeter has ankle surgery
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter had surgery Saturday to repair a broken left ankle.
The procedure was performed in Charlotte, N.C. by Dr. Robert Anderson. Recovery is expected to take approximately 4-to-5 months.
Jeter fractured his left ankle in the 12th inning of last Saturday's 6-4 loss to the Detroit Tigers in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}In six postseason games, Jeter hit .333 with two runs batted in. He batted .316 with 15 home runs and 58 RBI in the regular season.
