Isles pick up Halak from Caps
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Uniondale, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Islanders have acquired goaltender Jaroslav Halak from the Washington Capitals in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
Halak will join his fourth team in two months. He was traded from St. Louis to Buffalo on March 1 as part of the deal that sent goaltender Ryan Miller to the Blues, then was shipped to Washington four days later without playing a game for the Sabres.
The 28-year-old native of Slovakia compiled a record of 29-13-7 with a 2.25 goals-against average in 52 games with the Blues and Capitals this season. He has also played for Montreal and owns a career mark of 144-85-29 with a 2.38 GAA and 30 shutouts in 272 NHL games.
