Islanders place Carkner on IR
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The New York Islanders on Friday placed defenseman Matt Carkner on injured reserve with a groin injury.
The move is retroactive to Feb. 6.
Carkner has zero points and 20 penalty minutes in nine games this season, his first with the Islanders.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}In 29 games with the Senators last season, Carkner had one goal and two assists to go along with 33 penalty minutes.
