Houston scores 28 points in 2nd half to beat SMU 35-9
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Greg Ward Jr. and Kenneth Farrow combined for five touchdowns as Houston held SMU scoreless in the second half to win 35-9 on Friday.
Matt Davis threw a 67-yard touchdown pass to Jeremiah Gaines to put the Mustangs up 9-7 at the half. Farrow ran for two touchdowns — for 11 and 14 yards, respectively — and Ward added another to put the Cougars up 28-9 by the end of the third.
Houston picked up 185 offensive yards in the third quarter and held SMU to just 28.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Ward threw for 144 yards, and ran for 93 yards and three touchdowns. Farrow finished with 110 yards on 18 carries and two touchdowns for Houston (7-4, 5-2 American).
Davis had 145 yards passing for SMU, and led the Mustangs (0-11, 0-7) with 70 yards rushing on 20 carries.
