Honduras ended a 32-year wait for a World Cup goal with Carlo Costly scoring in the 31st minute before Enner Valencia equalized for Ecuador to make it 1-1 at halftime in their Group E match on Friday.

Costly latched on to a long ball ahead of Ecuador defender Jorge Guagua to score his country's first goal at a World Cup since 1982.

But Valencia responded three minutes later, getting his left boot to a cross from the right.

Though both teams lost their opening games, France's 5-2 defeat of Switzerland earlier Friday opened up the group.
