Heavy rain washes out play at Puerto Rico Open
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}SAN JUAN (Reuters) - First-round play was suspended for the day because of heavy rain at the PGA Tour's Puerto Rico Open Thursday.
Six inches of rain had saturated an already-waterlogged layout at Trump International Golf Club by 1400 local (1800 GMT) time and organizers decided to resume play at 0715 local on Friday.
Only a handful of players had started the opening round, American Skip Kendall making the biggest splash when he holed out with a seven-iron from 159 yards to eagle the par-four 10th, his first hole.

The $3.5 million Puerto Rico Open is being held in the same week as the elite WGC-CA Championship in Miami where the world's top 50 players are competing.
