Graham leads VCU's rout of Saint Louis
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Richmond, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Treveon Graham scored 16 points and 25th- ranked VCU upended Saint Louis on Tuesday, 74-54.
Graham missed both games during VCU's two-game losing skid earlier this month with an ankle injury, but appears to be getting healthy at a crucial time.
"He's just a very savvy basketball player." VCU head coach Shaka Smart said of Graham. "Tonight was the best that he's moved since he sustained the injury."
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Michael Gilmore added 10 points and Jonathan Williams had a game-high six assists for the Rams (20-6, 10-3 A-10).
Milik Yarbrough led the Billikens (10-16, 2-11) with a game-high 17 points in their fourth straight setback.
Saint Louis fell behind 10-2 five minutes into the game, and only Yarbrough scored for the Billikens in the first seven before Austin McBroom hit from deep. Austin Gillmann followed McBroom's 3 with one of his own, and SLU used a 10-0 run to climb in front.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}But VCU distanced itself late in the first half behind a prolonged Saint Louis scoring drought that lasted just over 7 1/2 minutes.
The Rams trailed by three when a Melvin Johnson triple opened a 13-0 run. They also scored the last five points before halftime and led 34-22 at the break.
The lead reached 21 points as VCU rolled down the stretch.
