Gimeno-Traver upsets Vesely to set up Casablanca final against Klizan
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Daniel Gimeno-Traver of Spain reached his first ATP tour final with a 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-4 win over third-seeded Jiri Vesely on Saturday, setting up a Grand Prix Hassan II final against Martin Klizan.
The 29-year-old Gimeno-Traver served well and did not face a single break point to overcome his Czech opponent in a tight match that lasted nearly 2 1/2 hours.
"It was a difficult match," said Gimeno-Traver, who hit six aces and converted two of his five break points. "Maybe I was a bit too much on defense during the first set, but then I started to play more aggressively, and I felt well during all my service games."
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Klizan, who will be bidding for his third title after winning in St. Petersburg in 2012 and Munich last season, rallied past Damir Dzumhur 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 after saving five of seven break points.
"Damir played very well today," Klizan said. "It was a tough match. I think that I was mentally stronger in the third set, and I'm extremely happy to be in the final."
