Gill's layup and free throw with 30 seconds to go give Pacific 73-71 win over Cal Poly
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Tony Gill scored 14 points, including a go-ahead layup and a free throw with 30 seconds left, and Pacific defeated Cal Poly 73-71 Saturday in the Global Sports Hardwood Challenge at Oregon's Matthew Knight Arena.
Khalil Kelley added 12 points for the Tigers, who improved to 5-1.
Pacific led 36-28 at the break, but Cal Poly pulled in front 50-49 after Anthony Silvestri's 3-pointer midway through the second half.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Gill and Kelley made consecutive jumpers to give the Tigers a 64-60 lead with 4:09 left. Pacific held on until Chris Eversley's tip put the Mustangs ahead 68-67 with 2:24 to go.
Pacific reclaimed the lead on Trevin Harris' 3-pointer, but Eversely answered with his own 3 for Cal Poly. Gill came back with a layup and a free throw for the winning margin.
Eversely had 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Mustangs (2-4).
