Giants put Gaudin on DL
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The San Francisco Giants have placed pitcher Chad Gaudin on the 15-day disabled list due to an elbow contusion.
The right-hander was hurt when he took a line drive from Derek Dietrich off his throwing elbow in the fifth inning against the Marlins on Thursday.
Gaudin is 2-1 with a 2.60 ERA in 22 games this season. His last four appearances have been starts, his first since the 2009 season with the Padres and Yankees.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The Giants recalled lefty Mike Kickham from Triple-A Fresno to start Tuesday's game against the Dodgers in Gaudin's place. The 24-year-old sixth-round draft pick made his major league debut May 28 at Oakland, when he started and gave up four hits and four runs over 2 1/3 innings in a 6-3 loss.
Kickham has compiled a 3-5 mark with a 4.81 ERA in 14 starts for Fresno this year.
