Giants place C Sanchez on DL, recall Whiteside
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The San Francisco Giants placed catcher Hector Sanchez on the 15-day disabled list and recalled catcher Eli Whiteside from Triple-A Fresno.
Sanchez left Tuesday's game against the Braves with a sprained left knee. He hit a single in the fourth inning before coming out.
In 39 games this season, Sanchez is hitting .281 with two homers and 24 RBI.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Whiteside was batting .241 with one home run and 15 RBI in 47 games for Fresno this year. He hit just .197 in 82 contests for the Giants last season.
