As planning for UFC 200 continues another matchup in the works is expected to pit Gegard Mousasi against Derek Brunson in a middleweight bout on the card taking place July 9 in Las Vegas.

Sources close to the situation confirmed the bout to FOX Sports on Thursday although the UFC has made no official announcement about the fight.

Mousasi had been gunning for a matchup with Anderson Silva this summer at either UFC 199 or UFC 200 following his win over Thales Leites at UFC Fight Night in London in February.

The UFC ultimately decided to go another direction but it appears Mousasi will still get his wish to compete on the UFC 200 card.

Brunson accepts the fight after winning his last four bouts in a row including a three consecutive TKO's.

Most recently, Brunson punished Roan Carneiro by first round TKO at UFC Fight Night in Pittsburgh as he continued his climb up the middleweight ranks.

Mousasi facing Brunson is the latest bout rumored for the UFC 200 card.

The middleweight fight joins former heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez against Travis Browne, which is also in the works for the July 9 show at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
