Gary Winston's 3-pointer lifts Portland State past Montana in 3OT
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Gary Winston's 3-pointer with four seconds left in the third overtime lifted Portland State to an 81-78 win over Montana Saturday night.
Keron DeShields hit the second of two free throws with 16 seconds left in regulation for Montana (6-7, 1-3 Big Sky) to force overtime. Brandon Cataldo's tip-in with :47 left in the first overtime for Portland State (6-7, 1-3) forced the second extra period. Montana's Eric Hutchison's three-point play in the final minute forced the third overtime.
Winston scored all nine Portland State points in the final overtime period, including a pair of 3-pointers, and finished with 21 points off the Vikings' bench while dishing off five assists. Marcus Hall also scored 21 points and Tim Douglas added another 18 for the Vikings.
