Freshman Edmonds runs for 231 yards, 4 TD as Fordham swamps Rhode Island 54-7
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Chase Edmonds set a school record for freshman with 231 yards, scoring four touchdowns in the process, as Fordham beat Rhode Island 54-7 on Saturday.
Edmonds scored on runs of 16 and 10 yards in the first quarter, which propelled Fordham (2-1) to a 17-0 lead at the half. In a 30-point third quarter, he had TD runs of 87 and 41 yards. The quarter also included a safety and a defensive score.
Mike Nebrich completed 22 of 38 passes for 331 yards and a 32-yard touchdown to Tebucky Jones Jr., late in the third quarter. Jones Jr. had six receptions for 124 yards and Sam Ajala had five for 114.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Fordham, which stretched its record home winning streak to nine games, piled up 654 yards while holding Rhode Island (0-2) to 287. Rhode Island scored on a Mack Lowrie pass to Charlie McKeeman in the fourth quarter.
