MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Former Michigan State coach George Perles says commemorative rings were stolen from his house while he and his wife went to a Spartans football game.

Perles tells WILX-TV and WWJ-AM the theft took place earlier this month when they attended a game in nearby East Lansing. Perles says there's "a lot of sentimental value" in the rings from bowl games and his wife's bracelet commemorating his bowl wins.

Perles says electronics and money were left untouched, so he thinks memorabilia was targeted. He says his Super Bowl rings from his time as a coach with Pittsburgh Steelers might have been sought, but they're kept in a safe deposit box -- except one that he wears.
