Former Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Hanie is lucky to be alive. According to the Chicago Tribune, Hanie was a passenger in a fatal car crash in Barrington Hills, Ill., on Monday night and escaped with non-life threatening injuries. The driver, 35-year-old Salvatore DiMucci, was killed after the car struck a tree and crashed into a ditch.

Joseph LaRocque, another former Bears player, was also a passenger and was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Hanie's biggest moment as a Bear came in 2011, when he replaced the injured Jay Cutler in the NFC Championship game. In his career, Hanie had three touchdown passes and 10 interceptions, starting four games in seven seasons.
