Florida A&M to use committee for football coaching search
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Florida A&M has announced it will use an advisory committee to help with the search for a new football coach.
The nine-member committee will be led by former NFL player John Wooten, the university said in a statement Tuesday. Wooten is the chairman of the Fritz Pollard Alliance, which promotes equal-opportunity hiring in the NFL.
Earl Holmes was fired last week in the midst of his second season. He was hired in January 2013 and went 3-9. The Rattlers started 2014 0-5, but won their last two games before Holmes was let go.

Athletic director Kellen Winslow has faced criticism for firing Holmes during Homecoming week. He plans to make a decision on a new coach by January 2015.
