Fire, Rapids play to scoreless draw at DSG Park
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Commerce City, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago Fire and Colorado Rapids played out a 0-0 draw at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on Wednesday in a match that saw few chances and failed to really come to life.
Rapids goalkeeper John Berner didn't need to make a save in the game, while Chicago netminder Sean Johnson was a bit busier but certainly not overworked.
Johnson produced the best save of the match in the first half when he denied a first-time shot from Colorado's Charles Eloundou at full stretch, tipping the ball past the post.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Danny Mwanga then spurned a good chance for the Rapids when he fired over the net from close range a few minutes later.
Chicago did carve out a few opportunities in the second half as Lovel Palmer's diving header skipped past the post and Juan Luis Anangono came within inches of the woodwork with a looping headed effort.
But in the end a point was about right for both sides as neither was able to conjure up any real creativity to separate itself.
