Federer oozes class en route to last eight

PARIS (Reuters) - Roger Federer slamdunked compatriot Stanislas Wawrinka with a 6-3 6-2 7-5 victory on Sunday which powered the third seed into the French Open quarter-finals.

Watched by top French NBA player Tony Parker on a sunny center court, Federer produced a series of delightful shots including a sublime sliced backhand passing winner down the line.

He suffered a minor wobble in the third set when he slipped 4-1 down but burst back thanks to his vast variety of shots and broke for a second time when Wawrinka netted a volley. He sealed the match with an ace.

The competition will get much tougher for the 2009 winner in the remaining rounds but he looks in very good form on his least favorite clay surface.
