Falcons agree to terms with LB Tatupu

The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to terms on a contract with former Seattle Seahawks linebacker Lofa Tatupu.

Originally selected by Seattle in the second round of the 2005 NFL Draft, Tatupu notched 549 tackles, 8 1/2 sacks, 10 interceptions, seven forced fumbles, 35 passes defensed and two defensive touchdowns in 84 career games with the Seahawks.

The 29-year-old was released by Seattle on July 31, 2011. He did not play last season due to injury problems.

Tatupu was named to the NFC Pro Bowl team in 2005, 2006 and 2007 while also earning All-Pro honors in 2007.

With Tatupu being signed, it most likely means linebacker Curtis Lofton will become a free agent.
