Ex-NFL WR appears in court again on drug case with possible plea deal pending

Former NFL wide receiver Sam Hurd is scheduled to appear in federal court in Dallas to face new drug charges.

His young career was brought to a halt in December when he was arrested and accused of trying to buy cocaine and marijuana last season.

He's due in court Wednesday afternoon to plead to a new indictment with charges related to his time out on bail earlier this year. Hurd is accused of trying to have a cousin arrange a deal for 5 kilograms of cocaine and 200 pounds of marijuana.

The 27-year-old Hurd is being held in federal prison near Dallas.

His cousin, Jesse Tyrone Chavful, and an alleged co-conspirator, Toby Lujan, have signed guilty plea agreements.
