Edman's 9th-inning blast sends Stanford into Super Regional
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Bloomington, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Tommy Edman clubbed a game-winning two- run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning and Stanford captured the Bloomington Regional of the NCAA Baseball Tournament with a 5-4 win over Indiana on Monday.
Will Nolden scored in the eighth to give Indiana a 4-3 lead, but Wayne Taylor opened the ninth with a single off Scott Effross before Edman followed two batters later with a blast to right to send the Cardinal to the Super Regional.
Edman finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored, while Alex Blandino, Zach Hoffpauir and Dominic Jose each added an RBI for Stanford, which will take on Vanderbilt in the Super Regional.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Kyle Schwarber went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored for the top-seeded Hoosiers, who won their first two games before dropping a 10-7 decision to the Cardinal Sunday that would have given them a spot in the Super Regional.
Cal Quantrill picked up the win for Stanford after giving up an unearned run on four hits over 2 1/3 innings of relief work, while Effross was tagged with the loss after serving up Edman's walk-off homer.
