Devils reportedly hire John Hynes as new coach
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Newark, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - The New Jersey Devils are set to announce John Hynes as their next coach at a press conference on Tuesday.
According to The Record, New Jersey has an agreement in place with Hynes but have to settle on draft-pick compensation with the Penguins, whose AHL team is coached by Hynes.
The 40-year-old has coached the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins since 2010, when he was promoted to the position by now Devils general manager Ray Shero, who previously held the same position with Pittsburgh.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}New Jersey fired coach Pete DeBoer, since hired by San Jose, on Dec. 26 and went the rest of the season with co-coaches Scott Stevens and Adam Oates behind the bench along with team president Lou Lamoriello.
