Chargers punter Scifres signs long-term deal

The San Diego Chargers have signed punter year contract, keeping the veteran with the team through the 2016 season.

Scifres hasn't missed a game since starting his NFL career with the Chargers in 2004. Scifres, who turns 31 next month, has averaged 44.5 yards per kick over his career.

Last season, Scifres averaged a career-best 46.7 yards per kick. He has put 40.4 percent of his kicks inside the 20-yard line for his career.
