Canadiens take home-and-home from Bruins
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Carey Price made 26 saves and the Montreal 2 in the finale of a home-and-home.
Brian Gionta, Lars Eller and David Desharnais scored to give the Canadiens a 3-0 lead midway through the second period, and Tomas Plekanec calmed nerves with an empty-net goal in the final seconds.
Montreal has won three in a row since a six-game losing streak gave them their worst start in 70 years and led to the firing of assistant coach Perry Pearn.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}"We just got back to playing the way we're suppose to play," Price said.
Milan Lucic and Tyler Seguin scored for the Bruins, who have lost three in a row, including Thursday's 2-1 defeat to Montreal in Boston.
"It's seems we don't have goal-scoring luck," said Boston defenseman Zdeno Chara. "But we can't be frustrated, we have to keep trying."
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Seguin made things interesting, scoring with 54.4 seconds left as the Bruins skated with an extra attacker. But Plekanec escaped the Montreal zone with the puck and rifled his empty-netter in with 12 seconds left.
Tuukka Rask allowed three goals on 26 shots in the loss.
The game was quiet until Montreal scored twice in a 76-second span late in the first quarter.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}With Johnny Boychuk off on a holding penalty, Gionta scored a power play goal at 15:26 and Eller added one at 16:42, holding the puck during a 2-on-2 and snapping a shot into the top right of the net for a 2-0 lead.
The Canadiens went ahead 3-0 in the second period, again on a power play, when Desharnais slipped into the low slot and fired a loose rebound into the back of the net.
The Bruins finally got on the board a little more than four minutes later, at the 16:28 mark, when Lucic pulled them within 3-1 on a slap shot from the right circle.
