Caldwell-Pope leaves in third quarter with injury as Pistons fall to Wizards, 91-89
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Kentavious Caldwell-Pope exited in the third quarter with a left knee injury, as the Detroit Pistons fell to the Washington Wizards 91-89 on Sunday.
Caldwell-Pope, a second-year guard out of Georgia, fell underneath Washington's basket and needed assistance getting to the locker room. He did not return.
John Wall led the Wizards (3-1) with 15 points in their preseason home opener and Marcin Gortat added 11 points and 11 rebounds. Kevin Seraphin scored 14, including the go-ahead dunk to make it 90-89 with 5.7 seconds remaining.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Xavier Silas scored 10 points for Washington, one of several guards playing more minutes due to Bradley Beal's injury. Beal was expected to undergo surgery Sunday for the non-displaced fracture in his left wrist that he suffered Friday at Charlotte.
Andre Drummond led the Pistons (2-1) with 21 points, making all nine of his shots. Greg Monroe added 17 points and 10 rebounds.
