Butcher confirmed as new Hibs manager

Edinburgh, Scotland (SportsNetwork.com) - Hibernian confirmed Tuesday that Terry Butcher has been appointed as the club's new manager.

The former England captain joins Hibs on a three-year contract from top-flight rival Inverness. The 54-year-old will be joined in Edinburgh by his assistant Maurice Malpas.

"I'm excited about the future and what we can achieve at Hibernian - it's a great honor to be appointed the new manager of the club," Butcher told the club's official website. "I've been really impressed with the set-up; from the training facilities through to the stadium, everything is in place and now our goal is to deliver the success on the pitch that everybody wants."

Butcher will make his Hibernian managerial debut against St. Mirren on Nov. 23.
