Browns coach expecting better performance from RG3 this week

BEREA, Ohio (AP) RG3 is running out of time and excuses.

Browns coach Hue Jackson said quarterback Robert Griffin III needs to be better this week in his second game back since breaking a bone in his left shoulder in the opener.

Griffin showed expected rustiness last week in a loss to Cincinnati - his first game since Sept. 11 - but Jackson said ''there needs to be a jump'' in his QB's performance Sunday when the winless Browns visit Buffalo.

Jackson said he hasn't given up on Griffin being the club's long-term answer at quarterback, but he wants to see some progress over the final three games.

Griffin said ''I'll definitely play better'' this week and Pro Bowl tackle Joe Thomas added ''I expect a big jump this week from him.''

The Browns haven't won in more than a year and are hoping to avoid becoming the NFL's second 0-16 team.
