Brewers' Segura claims NL Player of the Week honor

Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Jean Segura has been selected as the National League's Player of the Week for the period ending May 12.

The Dominican Republic native hit an NL-best .500 (10-for-20) over five games last week, while leading the majors in slugging percentage (.950) and on-base percentage (.545).

The 23-year-old also hit three doubles and clubbed a pair of homers last week and registered the first four-hit game of his career in a 13-7 loss to the Reds.

Others considered for the award were Arizona's Paul Goldschmidt, the Chicago Cubs' Anthony Rizzo, Philadelphia's Cliff Lee and Colorado's Jorge De La Rosa.
