Blue Jays slugger Encarnacion has surgery for sports hernia

Blue Jays slugger Edwin Encarnacion has undergone surgery to repair a sports hernia.
Toronto said Tuesday the designated hitter/first baseman is expected to recover in time for spring training.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Encarnacion hit .277 with 39 homers and 111 RBI for the Blue Jays, who lost to Kansas City in the AL Championship Series.
