Blue Jays claim Casper Wells on waivers
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The Toronto Blue Jays claimed outfielder Casper Wells off waivers from the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday.
Wells, 28, played in 93 games for the Mariners last season, posting a .228 batting average with 10 home runs and 36 RBI, He was designated for assignment on March 31 to make room for Jason Bay on the 25-man roster.
Wells was acquired by Seattle in a trade with Detroit on July 30, 2011, along with pitcher Charlie Furbush and infielder prospect Francisco Martinez in exchange for pitchers Doug Fister and David Pauley.
