Blue Jackets' Foligno has stinger, could play Tuesday
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Columbus Blue Jackets forward Nick Foligno has been diagnosed with a stinger after leaving Sunday's game against Los Angeles on a stretcher.
Foligno was hurt in the third period of Columbus' 5-2 loss. While battling Los Angeles' Jeff Carter for a puck along the boards, Foligno's head appeared to hit Shane Heyer's hip as the linesman tried to avoid the play by leaping onto the dasher.
As he was being wheeled off the ice, Foligno was able to move his arms and he displayed a thumbs-up gesture to the crowd.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Foligno underwent a precautionary x-ray in Los Angeles and had an MRI exam on Monday in Columbus. All results were negative.
There is a possibility Foligno could play Tuesday when the Blue Jackets host Ottawa.
The 26-year-old Buffalo native has three goals and six assists for nine points in eight games this season.
