Benz throws 2 TDs, Mulder has 3 field goals as Eastern Michigan defeats Western Michigan 29-23
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Tyler Benz threw two touchdown passes and Dylan Mulder booted three field goals as Eastern Michigan defeated Western Michigan 29-23 Saturday.
Benz had scoring throws of 5 yards to Donald Scott and 8 yards to Alex Gillett while completing 13 of 21 passes for 137 yards for the Eagles (2-9, 1-6 Mid-American). Dominique Sherrer also scored on a 3-yard run.
Western Michigan (4-8, 2-6) had more offensive yards than Eastern — 443 to 369 — but settled for Andrew Haldeman field goals on its three second-half scoring drives. Alex Carder was 29 for 50 passing for 328 yards and TD passes of 1 yard to Blake Hammond and 25 to Justin Collins, who had nine catches for 101 yards.
