Bengals Maualuga fined by the league for drunken-driving
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}CINCINNATI (Reuters) - Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga has been fined two game checks and will forfeit a portion of his signing bonus for a drunken-driving conviction, the NFL said Tuesday in a statement.
Maualuga pleaded guilty to driving under the influence in February after crashing his car in Covington, Kentucky. He will not face a suspension by the NFL.
Heading into his second year with the Bengals, Maualuga recorded 63 tackles and helped the team reach the postseason in his rookie campaign.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Cincinnati will open the regular season against the New England Patriots on September 12.
