Bears part ways with punter Podlesh

Lake Forest, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago Bears terminated the contract of veteran punter Adam Podlesh on Wednesday.

In 2013, Podlesh ranked 33rd in the NFL in gross average (40.6 yards) and 29th in net average (37.9 yards).

Podlesh joined the Bears as a free agent in 2011 after spending his first four seasons with the Jaguars. During his time with the Bears, he had 238 punts for 10,065 yards (42.3 gross average).

After his release, Podlesh wrote on his Twitter account: "A sincere thank you to the Bears organization and fans for the opportunity to represent a first class franchise and city."

Podlesh had been signed through 2015.
