{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Munich, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Bayern Munich will be without forward Claudio Pizarro for "several weeks" after he tore a muscle in his thigh.
Pizarro sustained the injury in Bayern's 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund on Saturday after entering the contest as a second-half substitute.
The club confirmed the extent of the injury on Wednesday, saying in a statement: "Pizarro has sustained a muscular tear in his right thigh and will be out for several weeks."
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The 36-year-old has been used regularly as a substitute by manager Pep Guardiola, having made five appearances off the bench in the Bundesliga for the defending champions.
With Pizarro sidelined, Bayern is short on experienced attacking options behind first-choice striker Robert Lewandowski, with Sinan Kurt and Patrick Weihrauch having yet to make a league appearance.
