AZ Alkmaar turn down offer from Tottenham for striker Janssen
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Tottenham have had a bid for Vincent Janssen turned down, according to his Dutch club AZ Alkmaar.
The Dutch international striker was given permission to talk to Spurs earlier this month and he spent a day in London listening to Mauricio Pochettino's vision, with German side Wolfsburg also understood to be keen on the 22-year-old, who was Eridivisie's top scorer last season.
However, Spurs remain the only club to have made a concrete bid, although it was too low for Alkmaar to consider selling according to the club's technical director Max Huiberts.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}"The difference between the offer and the price we demand was too big," he told De Telegraaf.
"But Spurs have made the only official bid. I've read a lot of speculation and been telephoned by other clubs but no one else has made any concrete offer."
Reports in the Netherlands claim Alkmaar want around £16m for Janssen, who scored against England in his second international game at Wembley in March and now has three goals in five appearances for his country.
