{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The Colorado Avalanche will retire the jersey of longtime defenseman Adam Foote in a ceremony next season.
Foote's familiar No. 52 jersey will be raised to the Pepsi Center rafters at a date still to be determined, where it will join those of Joe Sakic (19), Peter Forsberg (21), Patrick Roy (33) and Ray Bourque (77).
The 41-year-old Foote helped the Avalanche win Stanley Cup titles in 1996 and 2001. He appeared in more regular season games and postseason contests than any defenseman in franchise history.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Over his 19-year NHL career, Foote scored 66 goals and dished out 242 assists in 1,154 games, which included nearly three seasons with Columbus.
Foote was originally a second-round pick by Quebec in 1989. The team relocated to Denver before the 1995-96 season.
