Astros place RHP Cordero on DL

The Houston Astros placed recently acquired reliever Francisco Cordero on the 15-day disabled list with right foot sesamoiditis on Friday.

Cordero has struggled since joining the Astros as part of a 10-player trade with the Blue Jays on July 20. The 37-year-old righty has gone 0-3 with three blown saves and a 19.80 earned run average in six appearances with Houston.

For his career, Cordero has gone 47-53 with 329 saves and a 3.38 ERA in 800 games with the Tigers, Rangers, Brewers, Reds, Blue Jays and Astros.

In a corresponding roster move, Houston purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Mickey Storey from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday.
