Astros land OF Rasmus
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Houston Astros signed free agent outfielder Colby Rasmus Tuesday to a one-year contract.
Rasmus will reportedly make $8 million for the upcoming season, according to multiple reports.
The 28-year-old batted .225 with 40 RBI and 18 home runs over 104 games last season for the Blue Jays.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Rasmus will most likely take over in center field for Dexter Fowler, who was traded to the Cubs on Monday in exchange for infielder Luis Valbuena and right-handed pitcher Dan Straily.
Over six major league seasons with St. Louis and Toronto, Rasmus has compiled a .246 batting average with 352 RBI and 116 home runs in 793 games.
To make room for him on the 40-man roster, Houston designated catcher Carlos Corporan for assignment.
