Allegri begins Juve tenure

Verona, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) - Massimiliano Allegri will begin his tenure as Juventus manager on Saturday at Chievo as he takes over the three-time defending champions.

Former manager Antonio Conte left the club after capturing a third title with Juve last term and he has since gone on to take charge of the Italian national team.

Allegri spent four years at AC Milan before being relieved of his duties in January, and he takes over a Juve side that begins its campaign at Chievo, giving Allegri a good chance to take three points from his first match.

The two biggest signings that Juve made this summer could both feature in Saturday's opener as former Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata and defender Patrice Evra from Manchester United are both in contention for a place in the starting 11.

Allegri's former club, AC Milan, will also be led by a new man in former forward Filippo Inzaghi, who takes over after Clarence Seedorf left the club following last season.

Milan opens the season at home against Lazio on Sunday, while Inter Milan hopes to get off to a winning start at Torino after finishing fifth last term.

Inter added former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic in the summer, and the club will be hoping to challenge for a spot in the top three this season along with teams like Juventus, Roma and Napoli.

After finishing in second place Roma will hope to mount another title challenge this season and the club opens with a tough test at home against Fiorentina on Saturday.

Napoli finished third in Serie A last term and the club begins with a trip to Genoa, Hellas Verona travels to Atalanta, Parma takes on Cesena, Palermo hosts Sampdoria, Cagliari invades Sassuolo and promoted side Empoli squares off with Udinese.
