Alexis DeJoria tops Funny Car qualifying in 4-Wide Nationals
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Alexis DeJoria raced to the No. 1 qualifying position in Funny Car at zMAX Dragway Saturday in the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals.
Coming off a victory in Las Vegas, DeJoria claimed her first No. 1 qualifying position of the season and fourth of her career with a track-record time of 3.934 seconds at 321.04 mph in a Toyota Camry.
"Tommy (DeLago, crew chief) got on the radio and said, 'Well, we didn't pick up as much as I wanted to," DeJoria said, smiling. "Another consistent .93. I didn't think we were going to stay No. 1. There are a lot of great cars out there. Fortunately, we were the best one today. I'm just proud of my guys."
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Steve Torrence led the Top Fuel field, Greg Anderson topped the Pro Stock lineup, and Eddie Krawiec led in Pro Stock Motorcycle in the unique event that features racing in a four-lane configuration. Torrence had a 3.736 at 326.48, and Anderson ran a 6.576 at 210.73. Krawiec had a 6.818 at 192.85 on Friday.
