6-6 shooter Marc-Antoine Bourgault declared eligible for St. John's, will join team Sunday
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Junior college transfer Marc-Antoine Bourgault has been declared eligible to play for St. John's and the 6-foot-6 shooter will join the Red Storm for Sunday's game in the Charleston Classic.
Bourgault, a native of Saint-Malo on the northern coast of France, averaged 10.8 points for Monroe College in New Rochelle last season, hitting 42.1 percent from 3-point range for the Mustangs (33-4). That percentage placed him among the nation's top 30 3-point shooters in junior college.
Coach Steve Lavin made the announcement Friday, just before the Red Storm (2-0) played Murray State in the tournament semifinals. The tournament takes a day off Saturday, so Bourgault will join the team for Sunday's game.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Bourgault will have two years' eligibility remaining and will be listed as a junior on the St. John's roster. He didn't play his first season at Monroe as he recovered from a torn ACL.
Orlando Sanchez, who played with Bourgault at Monroe, is still awaiting an eligibility ruling from the NCAA.
