Embattled South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford (R) made a surprise appearance on the House floor Thursday, chatting wit Republican lawmakers during votes. In particular, Sanford was spotted chatting up Rep. Mark Kirk (R-IL), who is running for President Obama's Senate seat.

Sanford served in the House for several terms before becoming governor. As a former House member, he's granted lifetime access to the floor.
