Santorum Distancing Himself from Pastor's Controversial Comments

Rick Santorum tells reporters he doesn't agree with the incendiary remarks made by a Louisiana pastor.

On Sunday evening in Greenwell Springs Pastor Dennis Terry introduced Santorum with a fiery speech, "This nation was founded as a Christian nation," said Terry. "There is only one God, and his name is Jesus.. We don't worship Mohammed and we don't worship Allah... If you don't love America, and you don't like the way we do things, I've got one thing to say, get out!"

Santorum maintained that he did not clap when Terry made the controversial remarks. "He's obviously allowed to believe what he wants to believe but, obviously I believe in freedom of religion and all religions are welcome and should be," Santorum told reporters Monday evening. "I believe very much in freedom of religion, and folks should be able to worship whoever they want to worship and bring their thoughts in the public square... That's what America's all about."

Pastor Terry has sinced released a statement claiming his comments were misreported. "I said those that do not love America and what she stands for should leave. Chief among the principals that America is founded upon is that of religious freedom, and that includes Christianity," said Terry.

"Muslims, Hindus, people of different religions or no religion have the right to be here in America, but they do not have the right to force me to be silent while they work to transform our nation."
