Rubio's Veep Slip-Up
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Marco Rubio has long been pointed to as a top running mate pick for any GOP presidential nominee.
The freshman Republican senator from Florida, however, has been steadfast in saying he has no interest in running for vice president, maintaining that he is happy with his present job.
But during an interview on Thursday, the popular conservative seemed to have given the job some thought.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}"If in four to five years, if I do a good job as vice president, I'm sorry, as senator -- I'll have the chance to do all sorts of things," Rubio said at a National Journal event, before laughing at his own gaffe.
Rubio later did not rule out looking for a new job in 2016, during a conversation with reporters.
"I want to accomplish some things here," Rubio said, "and I think if I do a good job in the Senate that three, four, five, six years from now I'll have a different opportunities."
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}When asked to elaborate, Rubio declined to mention any specifics but added, "I'll have opportunities to do things inside of government and outside of government. if you do a good job at your job you'll have opportunities to do other jobs or keep doing the job that you're doing."
